July 23, 2011: Fifth Annual Edible Landscaping Tour, 11-4. Check in from 10:45 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Common Ground Garden Supply & Education Center, 559 College Avenue, Palo Alto. Call 650-493-6072 to register.
The School Garden Group organizes its activities for Slow Food through working with school gardens at both public and private institutions, from early childhood to old age.

June 26-29, 2011: Edible Schoolyard Academy in Berkeley. Judee Humburg, Trish McCracken, & Pat Nichols attending from the Slow Food South Bay chapter.
June 25, 2011: Slow Farm Tour, 8-5. Organized by Ann Duwe.
June 18, 2011: Community work day at Common Ground Demonstration Garden in Palo Alto from 9:30-1, followed by potluck, fruit tasting, and live music. Organized by garden director, Zuzanna Dorzdz June 3, 2011: Private tour of Jesse Cool's garden and observation of final lesson in garden segment for elementary credential candidates at Stanford. Students reported on four different local school gardens they had visited that morning. June 2, 2011: Public tour of Edible Schoolyard in Berkeley, 9-10 a.m. Organized by Zuzana Drozdz. (Offered monthly during the school year; registration on their website.) May 24, 2011: Williard Middle School (Berkeley) garden and cooking classroom tour. Organized by Linda Kincaid and hosted by Matt Tsang. April 29, 2011: Visit to Common Ground Demonstration Garden in Palo Alto. Organized by Linda Kincaid and Zuz Drozdz. April 22, 2011 (Earth Day Celebration), Booksin Elementary, San José Unified: Cooking Demonstration with foods from the school garden. April 9, 2011, Easterbrook Discovery School K-8, Moreland SD: Compost hauling and bed preparation for new school garden. March 18, 2011, Santa Clara County school garden tour: Forge Garden, Santa Clara University; Noddin Elementary, Union SD; Booksin Elementary, San Jos Unified; Hacienda-Valley View School, San Jos Unified; Willow Glen Elementary, San Jos Unified. December 9 & 16, 2010, McKinley Elementary in Franklin McKinley SD: Family dinner for parents and students to launch the garden. Planting of fava beans. October 18, 2009, McKinley Elementary in Franklin McKinley SD: Digging planting beds and constructing planter boxes for new garden.

San Mateo County Resources
The San Mateo County Food System Alliance, a community-based collaborative of farmers, fishermen, garden-based educators, environmental advocates, farmers market managers, and public health professionals, seeks to promote and support a sustainable food system that is economically viable, environmentally sound, and socially just. One of the Food Alliances goals is to advocate for a garden in every San Mateo County school.
